Parents also have an important part to play.
Committee membership: As previously stated, a large proportion of the committee is made up of parents of playgroup children. Even if you do not want to commit yourself to being a committee member, you are always welcome to attend meetings and raise questions, make suggestions or just observe. The playgroup is for your children’s benefit so your views are very important.
Parents/Carers’ Rota: A rota operates – each parent or carer is asked to help out on one or two mornings per term. There are no skills required that you do not already possess in abundance and it is a good opportunity to see your child playing and co-operating with others. This help is of great importance to playgroup as it keeps the fees low.
Fund-raising: In order to make our fund-raising events a success we need support from parents or carers of the children at playgroup. This can be in the form of manning a stall, donating a cake, selling coffee or tickets or, most importantly, by attending the events and encouraging other people to attend. As Clutton playgroup is a registered charity (no. 1025259) all the profits are re-invested to benefit the children. The more successful the fund-raising, the more the children benefit, be it in terms of more/better play equipment or more training for staff.
